Galeries Lafayette losing its commercial director in charge of fashion

In an internal memo circulated this Friday 6 February, management at Galeries Lafayette announced the departure of its commercial director in charge of fashion and member of the board of directors department store branch, Averyl Oates. According to the French group, she has decided to return to her native London.

Averyl Oates

Averyl Oates crossed the Channel in September 2013 to join the French department store chain. In London she had worked at Harvey Nichols, as director of fashion and marketing, after serving as womenswear fashion director at Harrods. Before both of these she held managerial/executive positions in Singapore and at Donna Karan in New York.

Clearly a hard-to-beat international profile for the Galeries Lafayette to contribute to its Ambitions 2020 plan for the transformation of the company.

The store has specified that Averyl Oates will remain at the company until the end of March, giving it time to find a successor and guarantee a smooth transition, and that she will continue to supervise the purchases in progress for the fall/winter 2015 season.
