Trading is understood to be on hold as negotiations continue concerning the chain’s outstanding debt to EWM, reported to be over £2 million.

In an internal email to staff this weekend, EWM instructed staff to ensure that stock was removed from display and that no sales were made at any of its HoF concessions, which include Jaeger, Jane Norman and Calvetron Brands.

“A member of staff must remain on the department at all times to ensure that no goods/products are sold,” the statement added.

The suspension of the concessions comes after Day’s £100 million bid to acquire the department store chain was rejected last month.
