Is this the first visible outcome of investment fund Bain Capital’s recent takeover of Canada Goose?

The Canadian manufacturer of winter apparel, which changed hands last December, has announced the opening of its first sales and marketing office on this side of the Atlantic. The brand is moving a team to London, with a showroom in the Oxford Circus area. The sales office is in charge of markets in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

For this first European outpost, Canada Goose chose its biggest market on the Old Continent. The brand said sales have grown by 200% in the U.K. last year and it has about 90 points of sale there, including in Harrods and Harvey Nichols.

Last year, the brand brought in 99 million euros (81.5 million pounds) in sales worldwide.

Canada Goose will be running its marketing strategy for all of Europe from London. The office will give the brand access to various European press offices as well as help it support Canada Goose country managers. Stéphane Arnauld has been marketing director for France since 2012.

This presence in Europe should especially help the brand to develop lightweight, waterproof items that correspond better to local seasonal and weather requirements.
