Zalando continues to roll out its Connected Retail offer to new countries and Italy is the latest on its list.

The service is an online solution for physical retailers of any size and with the Italian launch, Zalando said it’s offering a reduced commission scheme until the end of the year and continuing the weekly payouts it put in place for other markets earlier.

And it added that Italian customers will soon be able to support local shops by using the “delivery from a shop” filter option.

The fashion and beauty e-tail giant added the service for Italy as of this week with retailers there now able to connect their stores directly to Zalando’s platform and sell their products to millions of customers online.

This is the fifth country expansion this year for the service that’s now available in 13 of Zalando’s 23 European markets.

The company claims “many retailers can achieve a daily increase in sales of 20 orders per store” when signed up.

It certainly takes the hassle out of going online for many smaller retailers as the company provides the software for the connection, online content, payment options, customer support and personal account managers.

For the new launch, Poste Italiane will collect the orders directly from the specific store, as a customer would normally do, and deliver it to them. On request, partners can also make use of marketing services via Zalando Marketing Services (ZMS).

The company said that Italy is one of the biggest fashion markets in Europe and “very important for Zalando”.
