WeSC Worldwide announced this month the appointment of Joseph Janus as Chief Executive Officer. Janus previously served as WeSC Americas CEO.

In this position, Janus will lead the entire company, working closely with the Stockholm-based head of design, head of production and sales team, and he will focus primarily on directing the strategy of sales and distribution and marketing and public relations. Janus will continue to work from the WeSC New York office and will assume overall responsibility for directing fall 2017 sales efforts with the Stockholm sales team.

In addition, Thomas Pouverel is in charge of marketing and the development of e-commerce.

"I am very excited about my new role as CEO for the WeSC group,” said Janus. “I strongly believe the efforts we have made in the U.S market in elevating WeSC's brand positioning and distribution will translate very well to our worldwide market. We have seen success with our current U.S distribution in accounts such as Bloomingdale's and Saks Fifth Avenue and other retail chains. The same elevated distribution and brand positioning will work in other important countries and regions that WeSC distributes to."

Prior to WeSC, Janus worked at Guess, Calvin Klein, Jnco Jeans, and Bodhi Handbags in executive design, merchandising and marketing roles.

In 2016, WeSC named Tony Wester the new CEO succeeding Johan Heijbel, who currently serves on the company board. The company also announced plans to open four stores in 12 to 18 months and target openings in the US and England. Today, WeSC operates 22 stores directly or with regional partners in 25 countries.
