August will see British sportswear retailer Sports Direct enter the Latvian market for the first time.

Sports Direct will open a 14,000 ft² store in the Olimpia shopping centre in Riga, Latvia, which is run by BPT Real Estate. The company said: "It is a great honour for BPT Real Estate to be the first in Latvia, who is hosting this world-famous company with hundreds of globally recognized brands."

Sports Direct, which was founded in 1982, is the UK's leading sports retailer and has 270 stores in 19 European countries. In the Baltic countries it previously has a shop in Estonia. Last year the company had a turnover of 3.7bn euro.
