The opening of the new £240m The Lexicon scheme in Bracknell has been rescheduled to September 2017 to coincide with the completion of new public areas and the upgrading of some buildings.

The new retail and cultural hub was initially expected to open in spring 2017, however The Bracknell Regeneration Partnership said more than 600 people are working on site to ensure the project is completed in time for the late summer 2017 opening.

FatFace and Carphone Warehouse are the shopping destination’s latest signings, joining a strong brand mix that also includes Marks and Spencer, Fenwick, Topshop, River Island and Footlocker. The new development is now 70% let by floor area equating to just under 400,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space.

The Bracknell Regeneration Partnership also celebrated this week the completion of the iconic Fenwick cladding with an event on September 13.

Hugo Fenwick, Trading Director of Fenwick, said, “We are delighted to be opening our first new  Fenwick in over a decade at The Lexicon Bracknell .This façade is a real feature of this store and will form a dramatic backdrop to the Lexicon creating a markedly different experience during the day and at night. It is excellent that the construction of the scheme is progressing well alongside the breadth of tenants that have recently signed up .We look forward to commence fitting out our store in earnest later this autumn in readiness for launch in 2017.”

Simon Russian, development manager for Legal & General on behalf of the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, said: “Whilst there has been some uncertainty in the economy over the last couple of months following the EU referendum, interest in The Lexicon from occupiers has remained strong. This is demonstrated by the impressive line-up of lettings over the past month or so.”

The Lexicon has secured seven new signings in the last month, and it said it has a number of other lettings in the pipeline.
