It may be up for sale, but Ted Baker’s expansion plans are clearly not on hold. It intends to open a new store at Milton Keynes’ centre:mk mall as the global fashion and lifestyle retailer continues to mull “a number of non-binding proposals from potentially interested parties”.

Earmarked to open at the centre on Silbury Arcade “later this year”, the 2,150 sq ft space will stock Ted Baker’s full range of womenswear, menswear, footwear and accessories.

“Ted Baker’s latest store will complement its strong international portfolio… [and] will continue to deliver the brand’s clear focus on quality and attention to detail, as well as embodying its joyful and irreverent brand identity”, a centre:mk release said.

Kevin Duffy, the mall’s Centre Director, added: “As one of the UK’s top 10 retail destinations, the signing of Ted Baker to centre:mk further strengthens our diverse fashion offering, which we are constantly adapting to match evolving consumer demand.”

He added that the retailer joins “a strong line-up of aspirational brands including Harrods H Beauty which recently celebrated its first year at centre:mk.”

Duffy also noted the mall “continues to perform well ahead of Springboard’s national and regional footfall benchmarks by as much as 138%”.

Ted Baker put itself up for sale on 4 April after receiving several unsolicited approaches from private equity group Sycamore Partners. But it also continued to point out that there’s no guarantee a sale will happen and bidders still need to meet its criteria and “offer a value that the board considers attractive relative to the standalone prospects of Ted Baker as a listed company”.
