British fashion brand Ted Baker is set to open its first full-price store in Germany later this year, and further openings in other German cities could follow soon.

The first Ted Baker store will open in Hamburg in a 600-square-metre space in the historic Streit’s Hof. The opening will expand the firm’s presence in Germany, where it also operates one outlet store (in Neumünster) and an online shop.

The upmarket brand is midway through an expansion plan that will also see it grow in Spain, France and Portugal.
Ted Baker has currently over 500 directly-operated and franchised stores worldwide. Since its creation in 1988 as a shirt specialist, the brand has grown into a global lifestyle company, known for its British style and distinct humour.

The brand is named after a fictional character created by founder Ray Kelvin, who in December took a voluntary leave of absence after facing over 100 harassment allegations by former employees.

The scandal has put the brand’s reputation into question, as former and existing employees have complained of a corporate culture that ‘leaves harassment unchallenged’.
