Ted Baker profit falls, 2009 to be worse

LONDON, March 25 (Reuters) - British fashion label Ted Baker (TBK.L) on Wednesday March 25 reported an 11.4 percent fall in full-year profit and said profit in 2009 would likely be lower due to the uncertain economic environment.

Ted Baker posted an underlying pretax profit of 19.6 million pounds ($28.73 million) on sales 7.3 percent higher at 152.7 million pounds for the year to the end of January.

The firm, with stores in the UK, United States, continental Europe, the Middle East and Asia and also present in department stores, said retail sales rose 14.8 percent to 118.2 million pounds during the year but that wholesale sales fell 12.2 percent to 34.4 million pounds.
