TU at Sainsbury’s and Holly Fulton unveil GWF tote

As an official sponsor of Graduate Fashion Week, TU at Sainsbury’s has teamed up with fashion designer Holly Fulton to produce a limited-edition tote shopper to support the British charity organisation.

The special edition tote features a modern geometric design in navy and coral, taking inspiration from Holly’s love of British folk art. It will launch in 19 March at 389 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide and online, and will cost £3.

£1 of every sale will go towards Graduate Fashion Week, which aims to provide a platform for fashion graduates from universities around the world.

“We wanted to select a design that reflected both our design identity and also encapsulated the spirit of dynamism, innovation and energy that the partnership between GFW and Sainsbury’s represents,” said Holly Fulton.

“Drawing on my love of British folk art, we wanted to create a strong geometric motif that would give the bag a powerful focus geared towards summer and evocative of the barge paintings found in traditional canal boats across Britain. Hand drawn and using colours from our signature palette, the result is intended to be used every day to bring a sense of contemporary, individual fun to consumers.”

The womenswear and accessories designer was named ambassador of Graduate Fashion Week last year along designers Henry Holland and Alesha Dixon. She also provided mentoring support to the winner of Sainsbury's GFW scholarship Genevieve Devine in 2016.

“Holly is a wonderful designer, was a highlight at LFW for many years and is admired by many for her amazing prints and design work, so it is an absolute delight that she has agreed to design a bag for the charity,” said GFW managing director Martyn Roberts.

“Holly is one of GFW’s Ambassadors who works closely with our graduates and so we are thrilled that she has agreed to support us in this way."

Graduate Fashion Week takes place in London at the Old Truman Brewery on 4-7 June.
