Lorpen, the manufacturer of technical socks for outdoor activities, has signed new distribution agreements with two sportswear retailers to boost its sales in the United States and Germany.

The brand, part of Spanish firm Tarnua Group, will sell its Spring/Summer 2019 collection on the ecommerce site of American outdoor chain REI. The distribution deal strengthens their ties after collaborating in the outlet space.

“We believe that having a digital partner of such calibre will be an excellent opportunity for us to grow in all trading formats in the future,” said in a press statement Michel Gogniat, commercial director of Lorpen. The brand has also recently launched via Dunham’s Sports, an American sports retailer.

Lorpen is also expanding in Germany, where it will distribute its upcoming Autumn/Winter collection through the Munich-headquartered sports chain Schuster. The move represents a step forward forward for the brand, meeting a goal it had been chasing for years.

Rein and Schuster join a growing list of stockists, including Canadian retailer Equipment Coop, which will sell the winter collection in the 2019/2020 season. Lorpen is available in Canada through the FGL and Sail stores and the country is the second largest market for the brand.

With a presence in 60 countries, the technical sock brand makes 70% of its revenues outside Spain. The business is planning to post a 10% increase in sales this year. Owned by Ternua Group since 2014, Lorpen is part of a Spanish portfolio of brands that also includes Ternua, Astore and Loreak. The latter represents the group’s first foray into the fashion sector.
