Shoe brand Kickers collaborates with Palace

Published

Cult skate brand Palace has reinterpreted one of Kicker’s star shoe designs, the Hi-Kick Boot, in a new collaboration launching on Friday 23 November.

Palace has been busy lately, launching a highly-coveted collection with luxury powerhouse Ralph Lauren and opening a new store in the middle of Tokyo earlier this month.

Now, the brand founded by Southbank skateboarder Lev Tanju has given Kicker’s Hi-Kick Boot a makeover. The shoe style was created by the French shoemaker in 1970, and while it enjoyed some popularity in its early years, it wasn’t until the ‘80s that it really dug its heel into British culture when it was embraced by a host of music celebrities.

Designed to be casual enough to be worn with jeans, the boot was adopted by music legends from Rod Stewart to David Bowie, and became a hit among British schoolchildren.

“Palace regard Kickers with a nostalgia and fondness that anyone who has ever been to school in Britain will recognise. Kickers is a true institution and Palace are proud to be working with them to put their own stamp on a stone-cold design classic: the Hi-Kick boot,” said the brand.

Kickers added: “Palace are at the forefront of the streetwear scene, with a similarly rebellious nature to that of Kickers. The output from this partnership is a modern yet nostalgic take on one of our classic styles – the Kick-Hi boot.”

The collaboration is available exclusively in Palace shops.
