For one week only, Selfridges showcased Issey Miyake’s latest Spring Summer 2018 collection in a pop-up store at the department store’s Oxford Circus branch.

The pop-up, launched at the Selfridges Corner Shop on Monday 2 April, also featured a retrospective of Issey Miyake’s Steam Stretch Fabric, which has been designed to withstand constant wear and washing.

Pieces of the Japanese House’s SS18 collection were presented alongside Issey Miyake homewares, eyewear and accessories such as the classic Bao Bao handbag, which this season pays homage to Iceland’s landscapes.

Selfridges said the pop-up, and its Icelandic inspiration, lies in conjunction with its creative campaign, the Anatomy of Luxury. Every week, a new designer brand takes over the space at the Corner Shop as part of the campaign, offering specially commissioned pieces and reissued designs as well as fashion collections.

Other radical designer houses, such as Gareth Pugh and Maison Margiela, will also open pop-ups at the space this spring.
