From his father’s premature death to international catwalk success. The life and career of Italian designer Roberto Cavalli are being made into a film produced by Ilbe (Iervolino and Lady Bacardi Entertainment), and directed by Giulio Base. The film is drawn and takes its title from Cavalli’s autobiography, ‘Just Me!’, whose rights have been optioned by Ilbe from Company Freedom Srl. Base, who is also the movie’s screenwriter, will begin filming in Italy in March 2022.

Producer Andrea Iervolino commented: “Roberto Cavalli is a fashion icon whose incredible life cannot be replicated. But it can be told truthfully and amusingly, and that's what we’re doing with this film. Monika and I are very excited to be telling this story, and we believe that the public will be fascinated by Roberto’s life.”

The film traces the international fashion icon’s adventurous personal and professional life: from Cavalli’s childhood memories to WW2, from his carefree youth in via Maragliano in Florence to his first sweethearts, his lifelong friends, his father - who was murdered by German soldiers in 1944, when Cavalli was just three years old. But also Cavalli’s fashion industry journey, his beginnings, the early successes, a few disappointments, his love of printed leather and stretch jeans. The film will shed light on Cavalli’s fashion influences, on how he dressed international celebrities.

With the Cavalli biopic, and the earlier one dedicated to legendary sports car manufacturer Ferruccio Lamborghini, Ilbe is telling the story of some of Italy’s leading society and entrepreneurial names, showcasing the kind of Italian creativity and way of life that is so attractive for international audiences.
