The collaboration is the latest for River Island Design Forum, the British high street label’s platform to nurture and showcase designs from emerging fashion talent. Since its launch the initiative has released collections from YMC, Sibling and Lou Dalton, among others.

The new name joining the family is a menswear brand founded in 2012 as an art- and T-shirt based platform, which became a full ready-to-wear brand with an on-schedule show at London Collections Men in June 2015.

For the River Island collection, Tourne de Transmission fused traditional Japanese design techniques and fabrics with modern Tokyo street style culture. The collection is made up of 14 pieces of ready-to-wear, footwear and accessories, including wide leg trousers, western shirts, a patchwork denim jacket, T-shirts and a reinvented kimono.

“We worked closely with River Island’s design team; first of all understanding what it was that attracted them to our aesthetic and then researching concepts together. From there we were able deliver something new for the River Island man that not only stays true to the TDT brand, but appeals to [its] global audience,” said Graeme Gaughan, creative director and founder of the brand.

The muted colour palette includes nude and grey, which are complemented by deep black and indigo hues. The collection will arrive in stores and online in January 2017.
