Richemont has appointed Eric Vallat (with previous tenures at Louis Vuitton and Bonpoint) as its first-ever director of fashion and accessories brands, a newly created role for the Swiss luxury group -- owner of brands Chloé, Lancel, Alaïa, Dunhilan and Shanghai Tang.

Previously managing director of cognac maker Rémy Martin and president of Mount Gay Rum, part of the Remy Cointreau group, Eric Vallat will also join Richemont's board of directors and will report directly to the group's CEO, Jérôme Lambert.

A graduate of HEC, Vallat began his career as an analyst for BNP Paribas, before moving to LVMH group, where he was appointed as managing director of LVMH Europe. From 2004 to 2007, Vallat helmed Christian Dior Couture in Japan, before taking the reigns at J.M. Weston, and then -- still as part of the French group -- being named president of French children's brand Bonpoint.

Richemont group -- whose brand portfolio also includes high-end jewellers Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, watchmakers Baume & Mercier and Jaeger-LeCoultre, and fashion and accessories labels including Alfred Dunhill, Chloé and Lancel -- recorded revenues of 10.9 billion euros during its last fiscal year ended March 31, 2018, an increase of 3%.
