The US fashion designer, whose eponymous womenswear clothing label is known for its polished, easygoing aesthetic, has unveiled the first installment of the brand's new ‘Little Minkoff' line.

Spanning separates such as dresses, shirts, a jumpsuit and even a miniature leather jacket, the 20-piece unisex collection runs in ages 4-12, and comes as the brand marks its 15th anniversary. It also focuses on sustainability, aiming to reduce waste and excess water usage.

"Becoming a mother was one of the most transformational and important things that has happened to me," Minkoff is quoted as saying on her label's official website. "This is why in honor of our fifteen year anniversary, we are launching a collection that celebrates the joy and life that children are."

In an interview with WWD, which reports that the collection will be availbale to purchase later this month, Minkoff opened up about the inspiration for the collection, saying: "We wanted to match some of the main themes in the women's ready-to-wear, but also let some of these items stand alone."

Minkoff is not alone in branching out into the lucrative world of children's fashion. The luxury brand Elie Saab also teamed up with the childrenswear company Simonetta to develop ‘Elie Saab Junior,' which launched earlier this year.
