Klarna has announced that its range of flexible payment options will now be available in-store, allowing shoppers to ‘pay later’ via their mobile phones.

The global payments provider, whose portfolio of clients includes retail heavyweights such as Topshop, Asos, H&M and JD Sports, said the move into physical retail will support the needs of multi-channel consumers.

In-store shoppers with any connected smartphone will have access to three Klarna payment options: pay later (up to 30 days after delivery of goods), pay for purchases in three equal instalments collected monthly, and spread the cost over up to 36 monthly payments.

Customers can access these options by either scanning a QR code on the retailers’ screen or choosing to receive an SMS or email with a payment link, which will take them to an online form collecting their information. Klarna said its real-time approval capabilities will help deliver a smooth and seamless payments process for both retailers and consumers.

Luke Griffiths, general manager at Klarna UK, said: “Shoppers today want more control over their buying experience. We’re now bringing more payment flexibility to the in-store environment, so shoppers can move smoothly through the purchase journey, whether they choose to shop online or on the high street.”
