Kingfisher shopping centre in Redditch is set to welcome outdoor clothing retailer Trespass, which kitted out all 15,000 volunteers at the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

The Scottish retailer will open a 2,117 sq ft store on the centre’s Walford Walk in the coming weeks, offering a wide range of outdoor clothing and footwear designed for walking, camping, skiing and more.

Trespass director Afzal Khushi said the company is “genuinely enthused” about opening the new store at Kingfisher, adding that “Redditch is a major population centre and one which offers a real opportunity for a quality outdoor retailer.”

“We view Redditch as an important link in the Trespass chain of stores and a location that fills a gap in our representation in the Midlands. We commence fitting out and refurbishment works on 16th October and look forward to trading from our brand new store in the first week of November,” he said.

The shopping centre will also add two more brands to its mix in the run up to Christmas, including fashion-forward stationery retailer Smiggle and Flying Tiger Copenhagen. Smiggle is due to open in November, while Tiger will reopen in the centre in late October.

Ken Williams, General Manager at Kingfisher, comments: "What a fabulous couple of months it's been for us here at Kingfisher. We've welcomed a host of new retailers on board, with a selection of exciting new stores still to open in the coming weeks.

"We're always striving to expand our retail mix for shoppers and the arrival of Trespass and Smiggle into the Kingfisher family has really allowed us to broaden our offering ahead of a busy festive period.”

Kingfisher is also home to fashion brands such as Bonmarché, Debenhams, H&M, Jack & Jones, JD Sports, New Look, Next and M&S
