The CFDA took to Instagram again on Thursday to announce Naomi Campbell as the recipient of its 2018 CFDA Fashion Icon Award.

The CFDA tapped designer Brandon Maxwell, also known as the fashion director to Lady Gaga, to broadcast the news in a short video clip.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the CFDA with this year’s Fashion Icon award,” Campbell said in a statement.  “Being from London, my personal style has always been tremendously influenced by both the dynamic, ever-changing nature of street culture and the music scene. I grew up in this industry and I’m forever grateful to the iconic American fashion designers that have supported me and celebrated me throughout my career.”

The U.S. fashion association seems to have taken a liking to the social media channel to broadcast these highly awaited announcements. Last week it presented a series of similar video-clips featuring some of its star-power members to present the nominees for this year’s much-coveted Designer of the Year awards.

The Fashion Icon Award is one of the many CFDA honorary awards bestowed on personalities who have had a major impact on fashion. This year’s other honorees include Diane von Furstenberg, who will receive the Swarovski Award for Positive Change. Donatella Versace has been named the recipient of the International Award. Narciso Rodriguez will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Carolina Herrera will be awarded the Founder’s Award. Edward Enninful has been named as the recipient of the Media Award.

The CFDA Fashion Awards will be held June 4 at the Brooklyn Museum.
