Mulberry opens new London flagship store

Mulberry recently moved its flagship boutique to 50 New Bond Street in London, only a few doors down from its previous address. The move to the extensive new retail space of over 5,400 feet is another manifestation of the company’s success, following its interim results for the 6 months ended September 30 that showed a 30% sales increase.

The store’s ‘warehouse-style’ design is the result of a two year collaboration with Universal Design Studio. Its modern, dynamic retail space reflects the brand’s aesthetic, its ecological and ethical concerns, as well as its ties to the English landscape. The environmental concerns of the vast open space were addressed as an integral part of the design brief. Furthermore, the majority of fixtures are freestanding and fully flexible, allowing for the manipulation of the internal architecture.

Universal Design Studio is even expecting the store to receive a BREEAM rating of ‘Excellent’, which is very unusual in retail constructions and spaces. Mulberry is said to have several international stores currently under construction.
