Mint Velvet signs up for Liverpool One

Mint Velvet, the womenswear brand that is now owned by the same family that controls River Island, will make its retail debut in Liverpool this year.

Due to open in December, the 1,700 sq ft store will be located on Peter’s Lane at Liverpool One, alongside well-established global brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker and Armani Exchange.

Valued at more than £100 million, the brand has garnered a steadfast following for its focus on the over-35s age group and wearable collections. 

The business was founded 10 years ago by Peter Davies, Liz Houghton and Lisa Agar-Rea, who have expanded its retail portfolio to 136 stores and concessions in the UK, UAE, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

A Mint Velvet spokesperson said: “We have recently celebrated our 10th birthday and are excited to announce the opening of this new store in Liverpool One. It marks the continued success of Mint Velvet and we’re delighted to be positioned with other premium brands in the city-centre location.”

Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor Europe, highlighted the mall’s progress this year following the recent signings of Polo Ralph Lauren and jewellery brand Rox.

“This year, we’ve made considerable strides in expanding Liverpool One’s mix of fashion brands, with a strong sequence of signings, openings and upsizes. Peter’s Lane continues to thrive, and Mint Velvet is a welcome addition as we focus on ensuring the destination is synonymous with stylish and sought-after international fashion,” she said.
