Michael Kors and Mint Velvet open Bluewater stores

British womenswear clothing brand Mint Velvet is opening its first stand-alone store in a non-high street location at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent.

The new Mint Velvet store will measure 1,900 sqft. and be located on the lower Guildhall opposite Reiss. It will sell the label's womenswear collections, accessories and footwear.

Bluewater is also welcoming American fashion brand Michael Kors, which is opening a 2,800 sqft. boutique on the lower Guildhall as part of Land Securities’ strategy of creating a series of unique statement stores at Bluewater. It will be located next to Hackett and Aspinal and sell the brand's complete product range.

LK Bennett is relocating its Bluewater store to the lower Guildhall, as is Jigsaw, completing the centre's line-up of premium brands. All four brands are opening this summer.

Commenting on the news, Russell Loveland, Portfolio Director at Land Securities, co-owner and asset manager of Bluewater, said: “Mint Velvet is a very strong addition to Bluewater’s premium line-up, and it is reflective of the centre’s status in the industry that it will be the location of the brand’s first non-High Street store in the country.  Michael Kors is equally significant and the two, together with the new stores for LK Bennett and Jigsaw, reaffirm Bluewater’s position as the first choice location in the South East for premium brands.”

In the past 12 months, more than 20 fashion and premium brands have opened at Bluewater, including an upsized Next and the first regional stores for Hackett and Anthropologie.
