Lacoste, Whistles and Skopes have agreed terms to open stores at Meadowhall in Sheffield, one of the UK’s largest shopping centres.

They will be joining over 30 new brands who have taken space at the shopping destination following a multi-million pound refurbishment.

French fashion and lifestyle brand Lacoste will open a 1,700-square-foot store, while Whistles, a UK premium label favoured by Kate Middleton will open in a  990-square-foot unit.

Further, Leeds-based formalwear brand Skopes has taken a 2,300-square-foot store, and The North Face is upsizing to 2,600 square feet.

The signings continue a stellar year for the shopping centre, with retailers including G Star Raw, River Island, Primark and JD Sports opening or upsizing their presence at the mall during 2018.

“High-quality, well located retail space plays a crucial role in omni-channel retail, evident by the relationship between online traffic and opening a new store at Meadowhall. New brands, our events programme and the refurbishment have all ensured shoppers continue to visit and enjoy Meadowhall,” commented Ben Grose, head of national leasing at British Land.

According to the company, whose portfolio also includes Ealing Broadway shopping centre, new brands at Meadowhall have experienced on average a 53% uplift in website traffic since store launch. More than 17,000 click-and-collect parcels are handled at the centre each week.
