Accessories label Troubadour is opening a store in the heart of London’s West End — specifically in Soho — with a debut at 65 Beak Street, just off the usually-busy shopping thoroughfare Regent Street.

It’s a big move as it will be the first store for the brand and it will open as office workers and tourists trickle back into the neighbourhood that was devastated by pandemic-linked lockdowns and travel bans.

The luxury retailer will open its doors in July.

The label, which is also stocked by major luxury retailers such as Harvey Nichols and Matchesfashion, is opening in a space owned by LaSalle Investment Management. The shop was previously Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop.

Troubadour specialises in ultra-functional items such as backpacks and duffles, as well as totes, briefcases, and small accessories like wallets and belts. It was founded by fiends Samuel Bail and Abel Samet as part of the quest to find “the perfect overnight bag. Something we could take anywhere, from the boardroom to the mountains. Refined enough for business, rugged enough for the great outdoors, and casually smart enough for weekends with friends”.

The idea was also to “create long-lasting bags that can be repaired rather than replaced [and] help to reduce the total number of bags being produced”. The label uses fabrics made from recycled plastics, as well as vegetable-tanned leathers.
