No successor has yet been named to Trotter, a talented designer who won plaudits for her hyper-deconstructed creations and polished take on athleisure. Her last collection for Joseph will be pre-fall 2019.

“Louise has made a significant contribution to the brand; in particular our international expansion including the launch of menswear and, most recently, accessories. We are grateful to Louise for her important contribution to Joseph and the foundation she has built for its continuous success,” said Hirosuke Takagi, CEO of Joseph.

Her departure comes less than a year after the house’s menswear designer Mark Howard Thomas exited Joseph to design Helmut Lang menswear in New York October 2017. Trotter subsequently oversaw the men’s collections from the brand’s new menswear designer Francesco Muzi, which emphasized military and sartorial touches, and again included exaggerated proportions.

“Today marks the end of an era. Working for Joseph for the past nine years has been an incredible experience and I feel very lucky to have been surrounded by such an amazing and talented team who worked alongside me with passion and creativity. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to my team and the brilliant collaborators who have travelled on this journey with me,” Trotter said in a release.

An experienced designer, prior to joining Joseph, Trotter did stints at UK high-street label Jigsaw, H Hilfiger and Gap.

Joseph is part of Onward Luxury Group (OLG), the Japanese-Italian group that also controls Jil Sander, Moreau Paris and Charlotte Olympia.
