Marks and Spencer and sustainability expert Livia Firth have teamed up once more for an ethical capsule collection of womenswear and handbags. The range, this time designed by Livia herself, follows an ethical M&S range curated by her in autumn 2015.

This season’s capsule collection aims to highlight sustainable and ethical fashion, and comprises a range of timeless womenswear pieces – three dresses and two separates – and luxe leather bags.

”Through my accessories collection I am particularly excited to give M&S customers the chance to access this sustainable leather supply chain in Brazil’, said Livia in a statement. The founder of the consultancy firm Eco-Age travelled to the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso to work with ranchers and to understand the challenges of sourcing the materials.

“You have to understand the mind set of these buys, and the huge shift they are going through by going green.  A project like this can be a gamechanger. Its tells ranchers thousands of miles away that customers care about sustainability and major brands are prepared to invest in sustainable supply.  The more ranchers that transform, the more forest that is preserved.”

Steve Rowe, M&S Executive Director of General Merchandise said to be ‘delighted’ with the collection. “These are classic timeless pieces which can add to and remain in any woman’s wardrobe forever and always remain stylish. They are real investment items and customers can rest assured they have been produced with the greatest integrity.”

The edit forms part of Marks and Spencer’s sustainable programme Plan A, and the clothes were made in eco factories using sustainable raw materials such as recycled polyester and cotton from the Better Cotton Initiative.

Shoppers can find the collection online or at a pop up within M&S Marble Arch store from 11-15 of February. Prices range from £49.50 to £149.
