La Perla UK sales soar, loss falls
Nov 17, 2016
La Perla has unveiled a more-than-trebling of sales in the UK just as it prepares to widen out its product offer from its lingerie and swimwear roots.
The luxury company said sales rose to £8.7m in Britain last year from £2.4m in 2014. And despite the brand remaining lossmaking in the UK, its losses of around £86,0000 were lower than a year earlier.
The company has three central London stores and concessions in high-end department stores Harrods and Selfridges. Next year it will add ready-to-wear into its product mix driven by creative director Julia Haart, who replaced Pedro Lourenço in the summer. The brand showed its ready-to-wear line extensions during fashion Month in September.
The move into ready-to-wear came at the same time as it unveiled Kendall Jenner as its brand face with the company saying she was chosen “for her contemporary charismatic appeal.”
