Kesslers International has been saved. The East London-based retail display specialist has been bought out of administration by Manchester-based GB Sign Solutions, part of the PFI Group, for an undisclosed sum.

The sale includes Kesslers' global visual merchandising services brand Proportion London, acquired in 2020, which designs and manufactures displays for high-end and high street brands.

Kessler, which had been a supplier to Primark, Adidas and Sainsbury’s, went into administration last month citing the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the retail sector and cost inflation.

PFI Group CEO Darren McMurray said: “The Kesslers and Proportion London businesses fit well within the PFI Group’s stable of signage, branding and visual communication companies, further strengthens and diversifies our uniquely comprehensive client solutions offering and represents another significant milestone in the group’s buy and build strategy.”

Joint administrator Michael Lennon added: “We are absolutely delighted that we have been able to secure the future of the UK’s oldest supplier to the point-of-purchase sector.”

It is unclear how many of Kesslers’ 160 staff will be retained following the transfer of the business.
