PARIS, June 1, 2008 (AFP) - A 21-year-old Japanese fashion student, Keisuke Magami, was Sunday June the 1st awarded top prize at a young designers' festival in northern France, the jury said.

La présidente du jury Chantal Thomass est entourée des deux gagnants des prix femme et homme.

Magami, who studies at the ESMOD fashion school in Paris, won the Dinard festival's Grand Prize for women's wear for a collection inspired by origami paper-folding techniques.

Ten French, Japanese and South Korean finalists were competing in the 15th edition of the festival, an annual showcase of up-and-coming talent with design giant Paco Rabanne as this year's guest of honour.

French designer Cyril Lambert, who also studies at ESMOD, won top prize for men's wear for a dandy-like collection with a 19th-century feel.
