Sports footwear and apparel retail giant JD Sports said Thursday that its acquisition of retailer Go Outdoors has been given unconditional approval by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

Go Outdoors

Go Outdoors, is a UK omnichannel retailer catering for the outdoor enthusiast and specialist alike with 58 stores across Britain and a strong business in retail parks.

The acquisition will complement the group's existing offering in the outdoor market.

JD’s Executive chairman Peter Cowgill said the company would make “an excellent addition to the existing JD Outdoor business” and help it build on its already-significant presence in this market through its  Blacks, Millets and Tiso chains.

Outdoor fashion has been a key growth area of the overall sports market in recent periods as urban consumers seek a healthier activity-based lifestyle and want the right clothes, shoes and accessories to go with that, as well as integrating the overall style into their everyday lives.
