In-the-news Jeremy Scott links with Hyundai for "upcycled couture"

Published
Mar 22, 2023

Jeremy Scott is making headlines at the moment after stepping down from his creative director role at Moschino but he’s also making an impact via an upcycled couture collection made with discarded materials from Hyundai Motor's electric vehicles.

Hyundai

The collection is being shown at The Hyundai Re:Style Exhibition in Korea from Thursday, in support of the global launch of the carmaker’s all-new KONA Electric vehicle.

Re:Style is now in its fourth year and is an eco-friendly upcycled fashion platform that links with big-name global designers to transform automotive waste into fashion items.

Hyundai saids that “this year's collection breaks stereotypes of sustainable design with an haute couture collection by Jeremy Scott made with discarded materials from Hyundai Motor's electric vehicles, together with the deadstock fabrics”.

New materials have been derived from parts such as wheels, seat belts, tail lights and wipers.
