ITS 2015 (International Talent Support) promises high quality, judging from the rave reviews delivered by the jury, which includes Giovanni Pungetti (CEO of Maison Margiela), Molly Molloy (ready-to-wear design director at Marni), and Carlo Giordanetti (creative director at Swatch), among others.

The international competition for young designers, which will be held in Trieste from July 10-11, has unveiled its list of finalists. In total, 35 promising talents have been selected for the 14th edition, five of whom will participate in two competitions, as there are 10 finalists for each of the four categories: apparel, accessories, jewelry, and the artwork contest, which is dedicated to the development of purely artistic concepts.

Ten of the finalists will also be selected to participate in the Samsung Galaxy Award, a special prize created by Samsung Electronics, that requires candidates to design two prototype meant to hold and protect the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone.

The 4 juries looked at a total of 950 entries from 79 countries, the majority coming from 296 schools in 65 countries. 35 names nominated from 21 countries are now left, bringing the total number of finalists to 500 since the creation of ITS in 2002.

The finalists come from Europe, particularly North and East, with one designer from Turkey, as well as North America (USA and Canada) and Asia, which continues to make a strong showing with no less than 5 Japanese, 3 Koreans and 4 Chinese competitors. 4 Israelis round out the list.

There is only one French finalist: Alexis Gautier, for the Artwork category. Finnish designer Elina Määttänen, meanwhile, also figured among the ten finalists at the Hyères International Festival of Fashion and Photography, held in late April.
