Mark Batty takes up the key role at a pivotal time for Global-e, which in the first half achieved over $1bn in international online sales due to retailers and brands seeking ways to expand their online presence to international markets.

Batty will now lead Global-e’s company-wide business development efforts, as the business focuses on further global expansion after its successful H1. He’ll “lead the expansion of the business into additional European markets and the implementation of new features and capabilities, to enhance the services the company provides and to support its 360° solution strategy”.

The company has continued to grow fast with over 100% year-on-year growth in annual sales and a 200% increase in new merchants joining the platform.

Batty has nearly 20 years of international e-commerce experience, and joins after five years at Boden, where he was originally Head of International Development. Before this, he worked at Asos, where he served as Country Manager for Russia and RoW markets.

The company’s technology provides brands and retailers with an end-to-end localised cross-border e-commerce solution and it currently works with M&S, Harvey Nichols, Forever 21, Hugo Boss, Vivobarefoot, Hackett and Reformation, among many others.

Meanwhile, British womenswear brand Never Fully Dressed has also just signed up to the platform to drive its international growth and create localised shopping experiences.

It means international consumers will be able to shops the brand’s sites in their local currencies, have a simplified returns process and be offered multiple payment options.

Never Fully Dressed founder Lucy Aylen said that Covid-19 has impacted the business and the new partnership “allows us to introduce shopping initiatives to boost those sales once more. The transparency of Global-e gives our international customers stronger confidence in shopping with us”.
