Mader will be responsible for the brand’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections and will be based in London, where the label is set to open a design studio.

The designer previously served at Mulberry in womenswear as Collection Design Manager and counts Marni and Sonia Rykiel amongst her previous employers. Boasting a broad international background, she has worked in London, where she gained a master’s degree from Central Saint Martins; and in Paris and Milan.

“[Mathilde] brings a truly global outlook, which is just what we wanted to add to the brand,” commented Morten Linnet, CEO of By Malene Birger. “We have full confidence in Mathilde’s contemporary, international vision of design and her ability to creatively guide the brand, helping us build momentum far beyond Scandinavia’s borders.”

The premium apparel brand, owned by the Danish I/C Group (Tiger of Sweden, Peak Performance) is distributed in 42 countries and sold online via the brand’s e-commerce store and at luxury outlets such as Net-A-Porter and The Outnet. It recorded revenue of DKK 357m (€40m) in the financial year 2015/2016, with the Nordic market accounting for 69%.
