French sports chain Decathlon, one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, has signed for a 20,000-square-foot store, while UK retailer Sports Direct will open in a 17,000-square-foot unit.

They will be joined by lifestyle brand Neon Sheep, which sells gifts, stationery and clothing,  books retailer WH Smith and Explore Learning, the learning centres provider.

“Retailers continue to open new stores at well-located and well-managed locations. Ealing Broadway already benefits from fantastic transport infrastructure which is set to be further improved with the arrival of the Elizabeth line in 2019,” said Ben Grose, head of national leasing at British Land.

The area is also undergoing a £1 billion transformation that will see the development of new residential and commercial projects, further enhancing its footfall and appeal.

Ealing Broadway centre has an estimated annual footfall of 15 million, and its retail mix includes Primark, Oliver Bonas, River Island, Wagamama and Itsu.
