Dove, the personal care brand owned by Unilever, has announced it will donate £1 million of products to frontline healthcare workers fighting Covid-19.

The brand said it has already started delivering these products, including 15,000 goods through 2,500 care packages. The boxes include items from Dove, Dove Men+Care and Baby Dove to support frontline NHS staff as the pandemic continues.

This is part of various charitable initiatives being led by the brand during the health crisis. In addition to product donations, Dove has created a Self-Esteem Project which aims to help parents, care givers and guardians support young people’s mental wellbeing while in lockdown.

Additionally, the brand is turning a number of TV ad-spots into reminders for people to get up and wash their hands, in an effort to reinforce the World Health Organisation’s guidance on the importance of frequent hand washing.

Dove is not the only Unilever brand to support the NHS during the coronavirus outbreak. In total, Unilever will donate 500,000 personal care products from its Dove, Vaseline, Radox and Simple brands to frontline workers.

These will be delivered in Soothe & Care packages designed for hospital staff to use after long shifts in uncomfortable personal protective equipment (PPE). Unilever has partnered with SalutetheNHS.org, a not for profit campaign, for the initiative. The packs will be assembled at the organisation’s campaign headquarters and delivered by Yodel to Government-designated Covid-19 hospitals and self-isolating frontline workers’ homes.
