Destination Africa textile fair returns to Cairo

It's been three years since the last on-site celebration of the professional sourcing and fabrics trade show Destination Africa. After the pandemic hit, which prevented the organization of the show since 2019 and resulted in a virtual edition in 2020, the Egyptian event will return to a physical format for its sixth edition on November 19 and 20. As with its last edition, the show will take place in the halls of the Royal Maxim Palace Kempinski hotel in Cairo.

The last edition of the fair was attended by 2,580 industry experts - Destination Africa

Launched in 2016, Destination Africa is one of the benchmark business-to-business events on the African continent due to its specialization in the textile industry and boasts an attendance growth of 74% since its inception.

The show, held in Egypt, seeks to position the country as a "sourcing destination" on an international scale, in addition to creating a consistent offer among the various textile manufacturing industries in Africa; be it in the field of machinery, fashion garments or household textiles.

In its last edition, organized in 2019, the fair had a total area of 3000 square meters in which 150 African exhibitors participated, mainly from countries such as Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Nigeria, Morocco, Ethiopia and Tunisia.

In terms of attendance, the show attracted a total of 2,580 visitors, including 980 international visitors from countries such as the United States, Spain, Germany, Italy and Turkey. Among the buyers at its last physical appointment, Destination Africa highlighted the presence of global companies such as Adidas, Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Macy's, Massimo Dutti, C&A and Benetton.

The sixth edition of the textile event in Cairo will coincide with the closing of the COP27 climate change conference in the coastal city of Sharm El Sheikh. Both events promise to bring media coverage to Egypt, at least over the coming weekend.
