Desigual is upping its stakes in the German market. The Spanish fashion brand has strengthened its presence in the country with the opening of a new shop in Berlin's Mitte district, which also serves as a showroom and office.

The firm has added this new shop to the other 27 it operates in the country (10 of them are outlet stores). "This opening represents a new step in one of our priority markets, Germany. During 2023 we will continue to invest in the country, in cities such as Munich and Cologne, to deploy the 'new Desigual' through which we want to get closer to our customers and connect with younger consumers", said Oriol Martínez, the company's global commercial director.

Desigual considers Germany, where it employs 220 workers, to be one of its key countries, as it is the second largest in terms of digital sales volume for the company. Its medium-term plans include expanding its distribution network in the market via department stores.

A shop that also serves as a "strategic hub"

The new Desigual shop in Berlin, which follows an art gallery-inspired retail concept, will also act as a hub for the company in the country, according to a statement. In addition to being a point of sale, the establishment will function as a showroom for wholesale customers and as an office for the sales and management teams.

"In this way, the space becomes a strategic hub for Desigual in a trendsetting city that is among the most dynamic in the world," said the firm.

Founded in Barcelona in 1984, Desigual is currently present in 109 markets through 393 shops and a dozen sales channels. The company closed 2021 with a turnover of 371 million euros and expects to achieve double-digit growth in 2022.
