DHL introduces fitting rooms at pick-up points in The Hague and Amsterdam

German parcel company DHL has introduced a fitting room at its service point at Noordeinde in The Hague. With the addition of the fitting room, consumers are able to directly try on, and if needed return, apparel ordered online at the service point.

The service is designed to save time, so that online shoppers don’t have to leave their house after receiving a package at home in order to return a parcel at a service point. In addition to the The Hague-based fitting room, DHL will also introduce the concept at its service point at the Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam later this month.

The idea to offer a fitting room at DHL service points was created by students enrolled at the Entrepreneurship and Retail Management program at Avans University of Applied Scienes in Den Bosch. In April, the students researched solutions for the last mile, the last phase in the delivery process of the e-commerce supply chain.

Ronals Leunisse, managing director at DHL Express the Netherlands, said: “The fresh outlook of students can introduce unexpected new insights. The idea of the fitting rooms stood out, because time and convenience are important factors during online shopping.”

DHL currently operates 2,100 service points across the Netherlands.
