Niwot, Colorado-based footwear maker Crocs has signed off on yet another unexpected creative partnership, teaming up with iconic fried chicken chain KFC for a collaboration featuring two versions of a limited-edition clog.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken x Crocs Classic Clog features a realistic fried chicken pattern on top, while its sole imitates the famous KFC bucket with a red and white stripe. The clogs are also accompanied by two removable chicken-scented Jibbitz charms in the shape of fried chicken drumsticks.

The style will be available in unisex sizes and will retail for $56.99.

The second style, the Kentucky Fried Chicken x Crocs Bucket Clog, is an “avant-garde” platform version of the collaborative shoe, with its added height making for an even more evident nod to the KFC bucket.

This version made its debut at New York Fashion Week when South Korean artist, designer and rapper MLMA (Me Love Me a Lot) wore a pair to a show on February 11. It is not, however, being made available for purchase.

MLMA, who has more than 1.2 million Instagram followers, also stars in a KFC x Crocs promotional video, where she can be seen taking the clogs from a deep fryer with a pair of tongs before serving them up through a hatch.

“As Crocs continues to create new, unexpected brand collaborations, we're thrilled with this 'bucket list' partnership with Kentucky Fried Chicken that will bring fans an unbelievably fun and fashionable take on our classic clog,” commented Crocs SVP and CMO Terence Reilly in a release.

The collaboration is the latest in a series of out-of-the-box creative partnerships undertaken by Crocs over the last few years, with collaborators including everyone from luxury fashion brand Balenciaga to American rapper Post Malone.

The collaborations have helped the brand – once seen as something of a fashion pariah – gain a new lease of life as a pioneer of the ugly shoe trend with a cult following.

The Kentucky Fried Chicken x Crocs Classic Clog is set to go on sale in spring of this year. Fans can sign up for notifications and further details concerning the collaboration’s launch on the Crocs website.
