Leading beauty company Coty is planning to shutter a former P&G plant in Nenagh, Ireland, only months after taking over the facility.

The multinational company assumed control at the plant, which manufactures Max Factor products, in October last year following the merger with Procter & Gamble’s Speciality Beauty Business. The deal made Coty into the third-largest beauty company in the world, with approximately $9 billion in revenue.

The Nenagh plant is expected to be wound down over the next 12-18 months, with operations transferring to another plant in Ashford, Kent.

Procter & Gamble opened the plant in Nenagh in the early 1980s and it employed 650 people at its peak. The factory  currently has 250 employees.

Coty is behind well-known beauty and make-up brands including Covergirl, Max Factor, Rimmel, Sally Hansen and Wella.
