H&M Group’s London-based Cos brand is the latest retailer to enter the resale market with the label debuting a new service dubbed Resell. It launches this month in the UK and Germany, “allowing peers to upload their pre-loved pieces”. The site will be available globally for buyers this Autumn.

It’s a “new digital space that provides a platform to buy and sell pre-loved Cos clothing, offering the brand’s community the opportunity to re-invent their wardrobe in a considered and sustainable way,” the company said.

The development “reinforces Cos’s ambition and journey to becoming fully circular and renewable, developing innovative ways to continue the brand’s commitment to quality and longevity”.

The online selection will be “community-curated” to allow consumers to sell old items and “shop new pieces from the brand’s archive, spanning the last 13 years”.

“With beauty in simplicity and function at the forefront, each piece will have a unique story, while offering timeless wardrobe staples to take the wearer through the seasons,” Cos explained.

More and more fashion retailers are entering the resale arena as they boost their sustainability actions and also work on making stronger connections with the community of shoppers who buy their goods.
