Coal Drops Yard secures two design-focused concept stores

The new Coal Drops Yard development in King’s Cross, due to open to the public on 26 October, has added two more names to its line-up of cult brands and independent retailers.

Bonds

Parisian home furnishings and fabrics brand Caravane is to open its second London store at the new destination. Covering over 350 square metres, the store will offer a curated edit of authentic, quality furniture and accessories including beds, sofas, curtains, homeware and lighting sourced from around the world, as well as colourful fabrics.

Joining Caravane is Bonds, a lifestyle concept which started out with a store in Hackney. Combining leather goods, skincare, candles, perfumes and homeware, the store will become a new destination for all things handmade.

It will house a café, an events space and an Earl of East London lab where candles will be hand-poured directly to be sold in-store.

Bonds founders Niko Dafkos and Paul Firmin said: "After the success of our first bricks-and-mortar we were keen to look for another more central location. Our current building has a lot of character so finding a space like that for the second store was one of our top priorities.

“CDY has a wonderful history and the reimagining of these incredible buildings by Heatherwick meant it soon became top of our list. To be part of one of London's landmark developments and be surrounded by such a well curated list of brands is such a privilege."

Caravane and Bonds join a strong list of confirmed brands at the new development, including Aesop, Fred Perry, Paul Smith, Wolf & Badger and Superga.

The new Coal Drops Yard is expected to open on 26 October.
