Sales increased by 6.7% across Clarks Village, Freeport Braintree and Junction 32, while footfall rose 5.8% over the year. In December alone, 1.1 million people visited the three outlet retail destinations, up 3.7% on the same period last year.

Retailers including The White Company, Wonderbra and GBK opened new stores at Clarks Village in Somerset in 2016, while Freeport Braintree welcomed premium German brand Hugo Boss.

"Our three premier outlet malls provide a compelling mix... In turn, this is driving a very positive response from consumers, with sales and footfall up at all three of our outlet malls last year,” said Gavin Murray, asset manager at Hermes Investment Manager.

The three outlet malls annually have approximately 10.6 million visitors annually. They offer a combined total of 262 stores, including Jaeger, Hobbs, Calvin Klein, Radley, Barbour, Karen Millen, Lacoste and Moss Bros.
