Canada Goose launches Humanature platform and unveils hyper sustainable parka

Published
Nov 18, 2020

Canada Goose has launched Humanature, a new purpose-built platform designed to unite its sustainability and values-based initiatives.

The new Standard Expedition Parka

And in its drive to help keep the planet cold through what it terms a Sustainable Impact Strategy, the brand has developed its most sustainable parka ever.

The brand intends that its new Standard Expedition Parka will help set the standard for the future of outerwear at Canada Goose. Made from recycled and undyed fabrics, lining and interlining, 100 percent responsibly sourced down and reclaimed fur, The Standard Expedition Parka design generates 30 percent less carbon, based on footprint, compared to forefather the in-line Expedition Parka.

It marks the latest step in its global sustainable strategy, which incorporates everything from organizing the donation and delivery of leftover Canada Goose materials and fabrics to upcycle them in warranty programs; to pivoting its production sites to develop medical gowns and scrubs; to creating a Humanature Pass that allows staff a one-hour weekly pass to connect with nature.

The brand has also developed an In Residence program where locals can express community spirit with in-store installations and a Northern Arts project where some 275 works of art with Artic Circle narratives are displayed in over 25 stores in North America.

“The role of business has evolved – in today’s world, driving meaningful change is just as important as the bottom line,” said Dani Reiss, President & CEO of Canada Goose in a release.

“We are steadfast in our commitment to strengthening our communities, protecting our planet and working towards a future for generations to come. Since 1957, we have been trusted to protect people from the elements and to keep them warm; now, through Humanature, we are taking warmth to an even deeper societal level,” Reiss added.

Separately, Canada Goose has also just launched The Icons, in a link-up with e-tailer Mytheresa.com. It’s a new collection inspired by the styles that have defined the brand, grounded in Canada Goose's heritage and design expertise. The Icons collection will focus on pieces rooted in Canada Goose's heritage, presented in in a novel transparent Silverbirch color.

The Icons collection starts selling on Mytheresa.com on Nov. 25, while The Icons X-Ray will be sold via Canada Goose ecommerce and in select stores from Nov. 27.
