Burberry is currently reorganising its management as its CEO Marco Gobbetti is leaving the brand to go and work for Salvatore Ferragamo at the end of the year. Burberry has just promoted Gianluca Flore from his role as president of Americas and global head of retail excellence to chief commercial officer. Flore will begin work for his new role on September 1 and will succeed former chief commercial officer Gavin Haig, who is leaving the business.

Flore has demonstrated a strong management of the brand’s operations in the American market, where Burberry’s sales increased significantly in the first quarter of 2021. Gobbetti praised Flore for his commitment and his, “extremely positive impact”. Flore’s skills in the retail trade along with his international experience, garnered through holding various roles in the American and Asian markets, make him the ideal candidate to supervise all of Burberry’s commercial activities.

Flore is especially prepared for his new role as he knows the Burberry brand well, after arriving in July 2017 from Kering Group luxury menswear brand Brioni, where he managed the label for just over two years. Prior to joining Brioni, Flore worked at Bottega Veneta for over six years, beginning as the luxury brand’s president for the Americas region then as global retail and wholesale director and CEO for the Asia Pacific region.

As a graduate of the LUISS Business School in Rome, Flore began his career as an auditor and financial advisor at Arthur Andersen before entering the luxury industry. Flore was first president of the Americas region at La Perla before holding the same position at LVMH Group’s Fendi and then moving to Kering in 2008.

Thibaut Perrin-Faivre will step into Flore’s previous role as president of Americas and global head of retail excellence. Perrin-Faivre is currently Burberry’s senior vice president of retail and the Americas and will step into his new role on January 1.
