Burberry has a new Chief Financial Officer. However, the UK luxury fashion house could have to wait until late summer to welcome Kate Ferry aboard when she takes up the CFO and Executive Director posts.

Ferry will arrive “by early September 2023 at the latest”, with responsibility for Finance and Business Services functions. She will also become a member of Burberry's Board and Executive Committee.

She’ll report to CEO Jonathan Akeroyd who said Ferry joins “with an excellent understanding of the luxury industry”.

Ferry is currently of McLaren Group where she has overseen financial strategy and investor relations and has supported the broader strategic development of the company over the past two years. Prior to McLaren, she was Group CFO of TalkTalk Telecom from 2017 to 2021. She’s also currently an independent non-executive director of Greggs.

She will succeed Julie Brown, currently Burberry Chief Operating and Financial Officer. As announced last September, Brown will leave Burberry on 1 April after more than six years with the house. Ian Brimicombe, currently SVP, Specialist Finance and Projects at Burberry, has been appointed Interim CFO from 2 April and will join Burberry's Executive Committee from that date.

Akeroyd said: “Kate has extensive experience of public markets, business transformation and development. She is a strong addition to our leadership team and I am excited about her joining to support this next phase of Burberry's development.”
