The new look is part of a series of events taking place to mark the occasion, including a reception hosted by Andrea Leadsom, leader of the House of Commons, at the Houses of Parliament in December.

Designed by Leicester-based OfficeTwelve, the new website offers new features such as a searchable database of British footwear companies, guides on apprenticeships for learners and employers, and access to BFA reports.

“The new website provides us with a vibrant new platform that is integral in enabling us to continue in our commitment to develop and promote apprenticeships, skills and knowledge across the UK footwear sector,” commented BFA CEO John Saunders.

“It will also give members faster and clearer access to the lobbying & representation we carry out on behalf of UK footwear with government, including Brexit planning.

“A more up to date web presence also gives us the opportunity to greater market and promote the positive things happening in UK footwear.”

The celebrations taking place throughout 2019 also include a series of articles that will be released each month in partnership with the shoe collection at Northampton Museum. The ‘12 decades of British Footwear’ will look back at a new decade and the styles that defined it, every month of the year.

BFA members will also be invited to a series of roundtables on 28 March.
